Hello! My name is Audrey Googins, and I'm currently in my third year at the University of Nevada, Reno. I'm pursuing a degree in Pre-nursing with a minor in Public Health. Originally from the Bay Area in California, I made the decision to move to Reno with the aspiration of join...ing the Orvis Nursing Program. During my high school years, I was highly involved in a range of extracurricular activities. As a member of the Peer Advocates program, I actively contributed to my school community. Additionally, I had the privilege of playing both high school and competitive soccer, where I served as the team captain for several years. Through these experiences, I was able to build strong bonds with a diverse group of friends. Moving 200 miles away from my hometown was undoubtedly a challenging transition during my first year of college. Despite being someone who typically found it easy to make friends, I struggled to find my place in this new environment. However, I soon realized that joining a sorority wasn't the only way to form meaningful connections. I discovered numerous sports programs and other resources that allowed me to get involved and meet people, regardless of Greek life participation. The university offers an abundance of programs and resources that facilitate student connections, creating a positive and productive environment. College can be overwhelming, and it may not be the right fit for everyone. However, I want to emphasize that there are countless social and academic opportunities available to students.
